About Us
Our Mission:
- To protect and preserve the rights of physicians to own and provide professional physical/ occupational therapy services as an integral part of their medical group practice.
- To protect and preserve the rights of physical/ occupational therapists to practice in physician-based rehab settings.
- To protect and preserve the rights of Patient Consumers to receive physical/occupational therapy services within their doctor’s practice.
Our Objectives:

- To establish a national membership base of physical therapists, occupational therapists, physicians, and practice administrators that are providing physician-based professional rehab services.
- To provide a common networking forum for our membership to collect and disseminate relevant, timely, and accurate information pertaining to physician-based physical/occupational therapy services.
- To provide benchmarking data for patient outcomes, rehab utilization, and aggregate costs, for physician-based rehab services.
- To establish a Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice for the delivery of physical/occupational therapy service provided in physician-based settings.
- To identify and address value-added services to benefit membership in the areas of educating professional development and advancement of APR’s objectives.
- To assist in the state and federal lobbying efforts for issues pertaining to physician-based rehab services.
